In this scenario, the bettor would win if any of these bets came in, but the amount they made would change depending on which bet won. If the five-fold accumulator came in, the bettor would make more money than if one of the doubles won. This is because it is much easier to predict two winners than it is to predict five.
As there are so many bets being made, the bettor would have to put down quite a large overall stake. In a Canadian bet, if for example a £2 unit stake per leg were being staked, the bettor would be placing a bet worth £52 in total. If it was a £10 unit stake per leg, the bettor would be placing a bet of £260 overall
Other kinds of multiple bets
A Canadian bet is a form of multiple bet, and there are many different kinds of multiple bets available to bettors. Double bets, for example, allow bettors to make two different selections and if they both win, the bettor makes. Treble bets extend the number of selections to three; if they all win, the bettor wins.
Trixie bets are comprised of three selections and four bets. Like a Canadian bet, they combine different forms of bet: in this case, there are three double bets and one treble bet. Unlike the double and treble bet, this kind of bet delivers a return if one of the selections does not win. Patent bets, yankee bets and Lucky 15 bets offer more expansive possibilities to bettors who may be feeling ambitious.
